Duties
- Perform venipuncture and blood sampling procedures accurately and efficiently to collect specimens for laboratory testing
- Assist with specimen processing and ensure proper labeling, handling, and documentation in accordance with safety protocols
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration to monitor patient health status
- Apply aseptic techniques during specimen collection and other clinical procedures to prevent contamination
- Support patient care activities by providing compassionate service, addressing patient questions, and ensuring comfort during procedures
- Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures, patient interactions, and specimen tracking in compliance with hospital policies
- Follow laboratory techniques and protocols to uphold quality standards in all clinical activities
Skills
- Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and safety practices
- Proven experience in clinical laboratories or hospital settings involving specimen collection and processing
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively using medical terminology
- Proficiency in venipuncture (blood draws), phlebotomy, and blood sampling techniques
- Ability to monitor vital signs accurately and recognize abnormal findings requiring escalation
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to blood sampling and patient assessment
- Familiarity with hospital workflows, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
