It is the City's practice to start employees at the lower end of the salary range. This position is eligible for education pay. The pay range for an employee holding an Associate's is $35.83 - $42.79 and for an employee holding a Bachelor's is $36.19 - $43.22, This position is eligible for bilingual pay for employees certified fluent in Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, or American Sign Language. The pay range for the bilingual premium is $36.19 - $43.22. This position is also eligible for longevity pay, with an increase of 0.25% each year the employee is employed with the City, starting on year 5. An employee completing a 47 year career with the City would expect to make $46.92 in the last year of employment based on 2026 numbers, for a salary range of $35.48 - $46.92. Taking these numbers into account, the salary for this position could ultimately range between $35.48 - $48.62 based on the 2026 pay scale, with the upper pay appropriate to an employee holding a Bachelor's, bilingual certified, and with 47 years of longevity pay.Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. HRA VEBA account may also be provided. Retirement benefits include a choice between PERS 2 or 3 and optional Deferred Compensation. The City recognizes 10 paid holidays and provides 2 personal holidays annually. Vacation leave is accrued on a prorated monthly basis with 80 hours a year earned the first year and increases thereafter. Full-time employees earn 8 hours of sick leave for each calendar month of employment. More benefit details are available by clicking on the "Benefits" tab of this job posting.Major Function and PurposeThis position coordinates and participates in the routine maintenance and construction of Public Works improvements for the City and assists management in planning new construction and maintenance projects.General FunctionUnder the general direction of the Supervisor and Leads, this position is responsible for the efficient and effective use of equipment, materials, and labor to complete maintenance and construction projects in a timely and cost-effective manner. Supervision ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervision responsibilities, but may provide oversight and direction to community service workers or volunteers, seasonal or temporary employees and co-workers as directed by the supervisor or designee. Work involves coordinating field activities, ensuring that projects are completed as scheduled, establishing work priorities, and fully participating in all field activities.

Working ConditionsWork is performed indoors and outdoors in all types of weather conditions. May be required to work in confined spaces and on ladders, inclines, and in noisy work areas. May be exposed to extremes in temperature, chemicals, direct sunlight, dust, pollen, machinery or its moving parts, pesticides, insecticides, noxious fumes, and/or insect stings. May be required to wear protective clothing or equipment in the performance of duties. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of a Lead or Supervisor. It is not anticipated that the Maintenance Technician II will be required to attend meetings during other than normal work hours; however, the employee may be called back to work before or after regularly scheduled work hours or on scheduled days off and will be required to participate in the weekend standby rotation. May be required to work overtime. All employees who are required to have and maintain a CDL are subject to Drug and Alcohol Testing as mandated by the Federal Omnibus Transportation Act of 1991.
