An established Urology medical practice is looking for an in-office Medical Billing Specialist with Administrative Duties. This position is 4 to 5 days per week; approximately 30 to 40 hours per week. (No Remote Billing Companies!)
The main practice is located at University Blvd W. close to San Jose Blvd. The physician also has another office location south of Jacksonville. This billing position will manage the billing for both locations out of the Jacksonville office.
Individual is expected to have a very reliable transportation to be able to come to work every day on time.
The job includes, but is not limited to, the following duties:
Billing Specialist Duties
The position is responsible for billing and collections of patient and insurance medical claims, as well as researching discrepancies and interfacing with all insurance companies and other payors.
- Utilize Electronic Medical/Health Records (EMR/EHR) Advanced MD to enter charges and use appropriate ICD codes for a Urology Practice
- Proficiency in medical billing processes and procedures.
- Strong understanding of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and general medical terminology.
- Experience with medical collection practices and managing accounts receivable.
- Troubleshoot and resolve insurance claims for reimbursement
- Knowledge of third party and private collections
- ·Send patient statements, collections letters, and medical records
- Log insurance and patient payments in EMR
- Accurate billing to Medicare, Medicaid, Private Insurance, and Third Party Insurance
- Ability to research all insurance claims discrepancies with timely results and constant follow up on claims status with billing vendor and/or payers
- Daily monitoring of claims aging and address all claims over 30 days past due
- Send patient statements and follow up
Administrative Duties
- Payables to vendors, utilities, etc. for both office locations
- Physician and patient scheduling, procedure bookings, etc.
- Collect co-payments from patients
- Assist physician in all administrative aspects of the practice
- Assist physicians with a broad spectrum of daily medical office tasks as required
Mandatory Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Minimum of 2 years of Medical Billing/Collections and Coding Experience
· Minimum of 1 year Medical Administrative Assistant
· Strong computer skills (Microsoft Windows Operating Environment)
· Expert level proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs Excel, Word, Email, Internet, letter writing. Must be able to develop and manage complex MS Excel workbooks and spreadsheets including pivot tables, import/export data, and mail-merge functions.
· Fast data entry
· Electronic Medical Record experience (Required)
· Patient medical balance collections experience, patient statement reconciliation and payment follow up
· Strong customer service skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment
· Insurance and Patient billing experience with Medicare, Medicaid, Private Payor and third party insurances
· Ability to communicate with all Insurances such as, Medicare, Medicaid Private Pay and Third Party Insurances on a daily basis
· Knowledge of electronic claims submission using EMR or Medical Billing Clearing Houses
· Ability to communicate with all Insurances such as, Medicare, Medicaid Private Pay and Third Party Insurances on a daily basis
· Patient Insurance Pre-Authorization and Co-Pay Collections/Processing
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the willingness to interact daily with patients, other physician offices, and insurance companies.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
· Knowledge of Medical Collection Laws
· General understanding of accounting principles to include debits and credits on patient accounts and patient statement reconciliation
Compensation and Time Off:
Hourly Rate is $20.00 to $24.00 commensurate with experience
