Position Summary
The Legal Assistant will provide direct support to attorneys and paralegals in all aspects of family law cases. May also include some estate planning work. This includes drafting and organizing legal documents, managing calendars and deadlines, communicating with clients, and ensuring the smooth flow of administrative and case-related tasks throughout the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, proofread, and format legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings.
- File documents electronically with state and local courts (experience with e-filing systems preferred).
- Maintain and organize client case files, both physical and digital.
- Manage attorney calendars and schedule consultations, hearings, and court appearances.
- Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
- Assist in client intake and document collection.
- Track case deadlines and ensure attorneys are prepared for upcoming matters.
- Support billing, data entry, and time tracking as needed.
- Provide general administrative support, including answering phones, scanning, and managing mail.

Qualifications
- Legal experience a plus but not required
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and familiarity with legal case management software (e.g., MyCase, smokeball, Clio or similar).
- Knowledge of North Carolina family law procedures and e-filing systems preferred.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism with sensitive information.
- A proactive, client-focused mindset with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Add is a notary or is able to become one promptly before or after hire
