Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain company vehicles, trucks, trailers, mowers, skid steers, tractors, small engines, and other landscaping equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, tire checks, brake inspections, fluid checks, and routine service.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related issues.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, belts, hoses, blades, tires, batteries, and other equipment items.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, inspections, parts used, and service schedules.
- Ensure all equipment and vehicles are safe, clean, and ready for use.
- Coordinate with supervisors and field crews regarding equipment issues, repairs, and downtime.
- Pick up parts, supplies, or equipment as needed.
- Keep the shop, tools, and work areas organized and safe.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous mechanic experience required; landscaping, construction, diesel, small engine, or fleet maintenance experience preferred.
- Knowledge of trucks, trailers, small engines, mowers, and heavy equipment.
- Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues with limited supervision.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems preferred.
- Must have own basic tools; specialty tools may be provided as needed.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to lift, bend, climb, kneel, and work in outdoor/shop conditions.
- Dependable, organized, and able to manage repair priorities.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with landscaping equipment, skid steers, trailers, trucks, and diesel engines.
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required.
Work Environment
This position works primarily in a shop setting but may also require work outdoors or in the field. The role may involve exposure to heat, cold, dirt, grease, noise, and moving equipment.
