Summary of Position:
Ocomar Foods is hiring in our filleter department! This is an exciting time to join our rapidly growing business! As an industry leader, we’re increasing relationships through our quality products and services.
Responsibilities
- Duties include sorting, butchering, cleaning, weighing, and boxing various seafood products.
- All employees are required to wear protective safety gear and are responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Early hours are required
Qualifications
- Product and industry knowledge- fish and seafood handling preferred
- Knife experience
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must have a basic understanding of the English language, including the ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Able to work with seafood, including various types of fish and shellfish.
- Able to lift to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the work shift.
- Must follow all directions and adhere to work rules.
- Must be willing and able to work with other departments in a team atmosphere.
- Must be willing and able to work in a multi-cultural environment.
- Prompt and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly exposed to cool, wet, and/or humid conditions, as well as moving mechanical parts. There is exposure to raw fish in the workplace.
Minimum Requirements:
- Cutting/filleter experience required..
- Experience – use of fillet knives, food processing equipment and food safety in a fast-paced environment.
- Seafood experience preferred.
- Work ethic – A demonstrated sense of urgency in meeting critical and time sensitive deadlines.
- Language – Basic English speaking and Spanish preferred
- Environmental: Willingness to work in a cold climate of 35º.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
