Now Hiring – Store Associate (La Mesa)
Hello. I'm looking for one responsible, honest, and punctual person to help me run my kratom store in La Mesa.
After you've been trained, you'll be expected to open, operate, and maintain the store on your own most days. This position requires someone who is trustworthy, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently, without needing help from me.
If you know you're not dependable or don't take pride in being honest and reliable, this probably isn't the right fit—and that's okay. Please save us both the time and continue to the next listing. I'm looking for someone I can genuinely trust to represent my business when I'm not there.
Most of the time when you interact with customers, your responsibilities will include:
- Greeting customers and engaging in small talk
- Weighing products (must be familiar with grams and ounces)
- Providing an overall positive experience
Downtime is typically spent in the back office, where you are welcome to relax, read, or use your computer or laptop. The store generally sees fewer than 20 customers per day, allowing for a laid-back work environment between customer interactions.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in the service industry, such as working as a server, bartender, or hotel front desk associate. This is a customer service-focused position, so providing a friendly, welcoming experience and being comfortable with upselling are important parts of the job.
Additional duties include:
- Wiping down countertops and the front door
- Restocking products
- Cleaning up after customers and yourself
Responsibilities
- Operate POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately to process sales transactions efficiently and securely
- Greet customers warmly, providing excellent customer service through clear communication and friendly phone etiquette
- Assist customers with product inquiries and upselling opportunities to maximize sales
- Manage cash handling procedures with precision, including cash, credit card, and digital payments
- Maintain merchandising standards by stocking shelves, organizing displays, and ensuring the sales floor is inviting and well-presented
- Promote store promotions and special offers to enhance the shopping experience and increase sales opportunities
Experience
- Prior service or retail sales or cashiering experience preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is key
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic math skills for accurate cash handling and transaction processing
- Strong communication skills are highly valued for serving diverse customers effectively
- Experience in the service industry (waiter/waitress, hotel concierge, bartender) or similar service or retail settings is advantageous but not mandatory
- Ability to stand for extended periods, handle fast-paced situations, and maintain professionalism at all times
Your regular workdays will be Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday (9:30ish-6pm everyday)
Starting pay is $100 cash per day. After 6 months, your daily pay will increase to $125 cash, and after 1 year, it will increase to $150 cash per day.
Paydays are Fridays or Mondays—whichever you prefer.
You'll also keep 100% of your tips, which I have seen range from anywhere from $10 to $100 per day, with the average typically being about $20-$30.
