Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dependable Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our inpatient behavioral health treatment team. The BHT plays an essential role in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment for patients throughout their treatment experience.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working directly with individuals receiving behavioral health services and can remain professional, attentive, and calm in a fast-paced treatment setting.
Schedules Available:
Every other weekend, 2:00pm - 10:30pm
Every other weekend, 10:00pm - 6:30am
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor patients and maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment.
- Conduct required safety checks and maintain awareness of patient locations.
- Observe patient behaviors and promptly communicate changes in physical or mental status to clinical and medical staff.
- Build professional, supportive relationships with patients while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Assist with new patient admissions, orientations, intakes, and belongings inventories.
- Complete accurate shift reports, checklists, and other required documentation.
- Support patient transportation to appointments, meetings, outings, and other approved destinations as needed.
- Assist with de-escalation and patients considering leaving treatment AMA/ACA.
- Facilitate orientation meetings and approved non-clinical groups when trained.
- Supervise drug/alcohol screenings and document results in the EMR as required.
- Assist the clinical, medical, and operations teams with patient-related needs throughout the shift.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED strongly preferred.
- 1+ year of behavioral health experience preferred.
- Experience in an inpatient, residential, mental health, substance use disorder, or dual-diagnosis setting is a plus.
- Strong communication, observation, and de-escalation skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and patient confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Availability to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
