Field Superintendent - Job Description
Position Reports to: General Superintendent, Project Manager, Project Executive, Vice President
Position: Full-Time, FLSA Exempt
National General Building Contractor based in Chicago, IL for Commercial Building Projects.

Project Supervision is the art of directing and coordinating human and material resources throughout the life of a project by using modern management techniques to achieve predetermined objectives of scope, cost, time, quality, safety and client satisfaction.
A W. A. Randolph, Inc. Superintendent is responsible for the following:
- Represent Randolph and yourself with class and dignity. This includes keeping a clean job site trailer, dressing appropriately, using appropriate language, keeping any suggestive material off the job site, etc.
- Follow all local, state, and federal laws.
- Supervise direct construction labor including Assistant Superintendent when applicable and Field crews.
- Enforce and follow all policies of Randolph, including safety, compliance, sexual harassment, SWPPP, etc.
- Ensure construction follows the standards of material and workmanship in order to ensure the performance of the facility according to the design. We expect our final product to reflect craftsmanship of the highest quality.
- Manage jobsite manpower, materials, equipment, project scheduling, subcontractor, and job cost decisions with the assistance of the Assistant Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Understand and work diligently towards successful compliance with the Project Schedule. This includes revising the project schedule with the Project Manager / Project Engineer if necessary.
- Create and update three-week look ahead schedules on a weekly basis.
- Understand and work diligently to deliver exceptional quality of work.
- Act and direct all labor as if you were an OSHA Compliance Officer. All job sites must be safe and complete with the issued safety program.
- Participate & coordinate all job specific meetings including subcontractor pre-construction meetings, subcontractor safety meetings, subcontractor weekly coordination meetings, etc.
- Perform all required job site safety inspections weekly or as required.
- Process all job level documentation in CMIC and designated client management platforms.
- Manage field office files and drawings in an organized and accessible fashion.
- Maintain a clean set of “history” drawings on-site. This includes updating your history set anytime a revised drawing is issued. Drawing Matrix (from PM) must be posted inside the site trailer.
- Maintain a clean set of “as built” drawings on-site.
- Schedule and coordinate all required state and local inspections for interim milestones, Certificate of Occupancy and project close out.
- Assist Project Manager / Project Engineer with project close out documents and requirements.
- Work and assist Subcontractors to help both WARI and Subcontractors achieve full project completion.
- Work with subcontractors to avoid back charges and field change orders.
- Verify time and material tickets for all subcontractors change order requests.
- Communicate with Owners during phone calls and job site visits. Return all phone calls the same day or within 24 hours.
- Notify Owner and Project Manager immediately of any incident that relates to OSHA, Injury, Property Damage, Union Activity, Fire, Ambulance, Media, or any noteworthy jobsite issue no later than 60 minutes after the occurrence is initiated.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
- Over five (5) years, experience in the field preferred.
- Knowledge of MS Office to include Outlook, Excel & Word, Project, Smartsheet, CMIC, Lucernex, WRIKE
- Knowledge of scheduling, safety, plan reading
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail required
Licensure/Certifications:
- OSHA 30 certification
- Lift and Lull Certifications
Physical Demands:
- Will require travel to the job site.
- Must be able to erect an extension ladder and climb the ladder several times a day if required.
- Can pick up an item that weighs 50 Lbs.
- Able to bend over and Able to be on feet for an extended time.
- Capable of getting on equipment, such as scissor lift, Lull, scaffold system, and so on.
