Senior Accountant - Construction & Real Estate Accounting
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a real estate development and construction business while working in a team environment with consistent year-round scheduling. This role will partner closely with the Controller and operational teams to support accurate financial reporting and effective accounting processes.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with the placement, administration, and tracking of acquisition, development, and construction loans.
- Prepare financial schedules, reports, logs, and supporting worksheets.
- Review and approve real estate settlement statements and related sales documentation.
- Track inventory and maintain accurate records.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of project pro formas, budgets, and cost tracking.
- Prepare property tax documentation and track payments for multiple entities.
- Review transactions for proper classification, coding, and recording within accounting systems.
- Identify, research, and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
- Prepare recurring and adjusting journal entries, including month-end and year-end closing entries.
- Accurately enter and record financial transactions as needed.
- Support accounts payable processes through review of coding, documentation, and transaction accuracy.
- Assist the Controller in strengthening internal controls, improving processes, and maintaining compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Support audit, tax, lender, and other financial reporting requests.
- Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent accounting experience).
- Three or more years of accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Ability to understand detailed accounting processes while maintaining awareness of overall business objectives.
- Advanced organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Consistent Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with an early Friday schedule ending at 3:30 p.m. Enjoy a predictable workweek that supports a healthy work-life balance.
