We are looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to join our team.
Position/Purpose: The biller maximizes accounts receivable by submitting accurate claims according to Medicare and regulatory agency guidelines. The incumbent performs a variety of billing, coding and follow-up functions necessary to provide a quality, accurate patient accounting system.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
- Responsible for processing patient claims.
- Audits medical record documentation including chart and operative reports to extract details of procedures performed according to strict guidelines.
- Verify charges and invoices for supplies, implants, hardware, unusual procedures.
Keeps informed about pertinent government rules and regulation relating to HCFA, and numerous requirements of third party payers.
- Research problem claims and works with collection clerks to resolve issues.
Post payments daily.
- Enters coding into billing system for billing purposes.
- Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.
- Two (2) years' experience in medical billing.
- Experience with billing applications.
- Experience in and knowledge of quality assurance, utilization review, billing, specialty billing, consolidated billing in Medicare, expanded billing is desired.
- Knowledge and experience in state and government contracts, Non-profit human service, and Community-based Residential Program settings desired, but not required.
- Experience in HST Pathways
- Experience using/knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
- Demonstrated intermediate working knowledge with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Interpersonal Skills
Educational Experience
Certification in Billing is a plus
