Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Low Voltage Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems across various commercial and residential projects. Your expertise will ensure the safety, security, and operational efficiency of systems such as security alarms, CCTV surveillance, fire alarms, access control, and telecommunication networks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in the field to deliver exceptional service.
Duties
- Install and configure low voltage systems including security alarms, CCTV cameras, sensors, fire alarm systems, and access control devices according to schematics and system design specifications.
- Conduct routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of existing low voltage infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently during installation and repair tasks.
- Interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system layouts to accurately implement installations.
- Manage cabling runs, terminations, and connections adhering to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards and best practices.
- Test system functionality using remote access software and diagnostic tools; resolve issues related to computer networking, hardware components, or sensors.
- Collaborate with clients and project teams to provide technical support and ensure project specifications are met.
- Document system configurations, modifications, and service reports thoroughly for record-keeping and future reference.
- Assist in sales activities related to alarm system upgrades or new installations by explaining features and benefits to clients.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following all safety protocols related to electrical work and construction sites.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a service technician with a focus on low voltage systems or related fields such as security or telecommunications.
- Strong electrical knowledge including wiring practices, schematics interpretation, and NEC compliance.
- Proficiency with computer networking concepts, remote access software, and system design principles.
- Mechanical aptitude with familiarity in construction environments and the use of hand tools, power tools, power supplies, and testing equipment.
- Knowledge of surveillance systems including CCTV cameras, sensors (motion detectors), IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems), and alarm systems.
- Ability to read technical schematics and wiring diagrams accurately.
- Experience working with fire alarm systems, security systems (including access control), locksmithing basics, and telecommunication infrastructure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting complex issues involving hardware or software components.
- Strong communication skills for effective field service delivery and client interaction.
- Relevant certifications or training in low voltage installation or electrical work are preferred but not mandatory. Pay: $25.28 - $30.44 per hour
