Position Details:
- 36 hours
- Days/Evenings
- 10:00 a.m. - 10:30 p.m.
- Sunday - Saturday with rotating weekends
Education Required:
- Graduate of state board School of Nursing required.
License, Certification and/or Registration:
- Current Tennessee or Multi-state Nursing License required.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers must be obtained in the orientation period.
- ACLS, PALS, or NRP is required for critical care areas based on patient population.
Experience:
- Experience preferred; new graduates accepted.
Additional Skills/Abilities:
- Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently.
- Department specific competencies must be completed within the provisional period.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Assesses patients, implements department protocols and provides appropriate nursing interventions and on-going assessment.
- Implements life support procedures in emergency situation.
- Actively facilitates patient flow in the department.
- Promotes cost consciousness by using supplies wisely and being accountable in assigned area.
- Treats all patients, families, co-workers and physicians in a customer friendly manner, actively giving information to patient and family, providing comfort measures, maintaining clean work environment and calling patients for follow up as assigned.
- Ability to perform a complete assessment on all patients and reassessment based on unit scope of care.
- Takes appropriate action based on assessment findings.
- Develop and implement interdisciplinary plan of care based on identified needs involving patient/family and evaluate/revise as needed.
- Discharge patients providing appropriate teaching information, education materials and referrals.
- Documents in Electronic Medical Record according to department policy.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of nursing policies & procedures, equipment, medication administered in the department, nursing trends, practices and legal aspects of nursing.
- Maintains current department certifications and attends required training classes/competencies.
- Completes annual requirements within specified time frames.
- Assists with maintaining the department for continual readiness according to regulatory and organizational standards.
- Complete annual requirements within specified time frame.
- Acknowledge physicians on the unit; providing patient information, accompanying on rounds and assisting as needed.
