Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will operate and program CNC lathes to produce precision metal components in accordance with engineering specifications. This role is essential for maintaining high-quality standards, ensuring efficient production, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The successful applicant will bring a strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with various measurement and inspection tools to contribute to our manufacturing excellence.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and program CNC lathe machines using G-code and M-code instructions to produce complex metal parts with precision.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and mechanical blueprints to determine machining requirements.
- Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software for programming and tooling setup.
- Conduct quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measuring instruments.
- Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment, including grinders and other machining tools, ensuring optimal operation.
- Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards to verify part accuracy.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and tooling to assist in setup, adjustments, or secondary operations such as welding or grinding.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols related to CNC machining, welding, and material handling.
- Support lean manufacturing practices by identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering teams for troubleshooting issues related to CNC programming or mechanical interpretation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating CNC lathe machines with proficiency in CNC G-code programming and Fanuc controls.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and GD&T principles.
- Knowledge of CNC programming languages including M-code commands.
- Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM), plastics injection molding processes, and welding techniques is advantageous.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing machining processes such as grinding, measurement techniques, and tooling setup.
- Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks or similar platforms; ability to interpret mechanical drawings accurately.
- Basic math skills necessary for measurement conversions and calculations related to machining tolerances.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments like micrometers, bore gauges, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines effectively.
- Knowledge of manufacturing environments emphasizing lean principles and quality control standards.
- Valid forklift certification or experience operating forklifts is preferred for material handling tasks.

Pay: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour
