Our educationally based salon offers everything from nail trims and baths to full service hair cutting! As a Wag Groomer you will be responsible for completing bathing services offered by Wag Hotels, which include baths, brush outs, de-matting, drying, teeth brushing, ear cleaning, nail trimming, and anal glad expression. In addition, you will also be responsible for cutting and styling the fur. Lastly, you will also be responsible for keeping the bathing salon clean and organized.
We support our groomers and excel in the industry by providing continued education through national certifications and seminars. Our groomers are in a constant state of training and are encouraged to explore new concepts and trends in the industry. We work as a team to create a fun learning environment, which requires a positive attitude and open communication. Customer care and satisfaction is a primary objective of our groomers, so strong communication skills are required.

Earning potential of $50,000-$70,000 per year!
Job Functions - Applicant must be able to perform all the following duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Under limited supervision, perform professional grooming services including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning, according to clients’ instructions and adhering to breed standards.
- Operate and maintain various grooming instruments, including clippers, blades, shears, brushes, and dryers.
- Always prioritize the safety of every animal, monitor pets for any signs of discomfort, illness, or injury, and promptly report any concerns to clients and hotel management.
- Evaluate individual needs of each pet, taking into consideration coat type, skin conditions and temperament.
- Interact professionally and effectively with clients, provide the highest levels of customer service, address grooming related inquiries, offer grooming recommendations, and provide timely resolutions to questions or concerns.
- Educate and provide custom recommendations to clients on grooming maintenance and at home care practices & products to promote the overall well-being of the pet.
- Can groom a minimum of 5 pets per shift, to include a mix of sizes/weights.
- Bathing expectations – Can complete bath dogs within the following times: small in ½ hour, medium dog 45 min, and large dog 1 hour or less.
- Responsible for maximizing their production each day by utilizing lapsed client reporting, calling guests scheduled out a few days to come in sooner, and reaching out to customers that are there for boarding and day play.
- Service/Product knowledge - Understands what is included in each bathing service/product.
Responsibilities - Additional duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Safety – understands use of chemicals and follow PPE, eye wash station, incident reporting, bite reporting, cleaning up water puddles, dog fight protocol and proper guest handling per Wag Hotels policies.
- Animal Handling – porting in and out of room. Follows all Wag Hotels policies and protocols for handling area and correction of guests.
- Animal health & behavior – health checks (snout to tail assessment) completed daily on each guest. Adjust bathing and/or grooming methods to accommodate puppies, nervous dogs, recent rescues and seniors. Ability to recognize and anticipate guest health and behavior concerns, sores, matting, skin allergies, fleas, ticks, etc. This includes evaluating guest health and behavior, making decisions regarding needs for grooming/bathing and vet care. Includes communicating those needs to the GS Shift Lead or management team to address accordingly. Also, it includes communicating those needs to the client and making proper notation in animal software system.
- Client Interaction – Establish relationships with clients. Engage clients to address any concerns or unique preferences. Ability to upsell products to clients. Educate customers on home care for their dogs. Works with client services to schedule future appointments.
- Housekeeping – Daily and weekly cleaning & disinfecting expectations kept up in grooming and bathing room according to Wag Standards, to include floors, kennels, tubs, tools, shampoo bottles, counters, tables, walls, etc.
- Completes and reviews “Grooming/Bathing” sheet and “matted dog release form”.
- Wag App – completes all Spa memories and report cards each day.
- Ensure effective and timely reporting to hotel management on injuries to both humans and pets as well as potential safety concerns.
- Proactively fill bathing / grooming appointment gaps by engaging in house guests/clients, follow up with lapse clients, facilitate local marketing.
- My Paradise reservation system – printing reports, saving notes & reading guest profiles. Enter cost for each guest on invoice and tip line.
- Proper radio etiquette – radio with an earpiece is worn during each shift. Radio communication is expected daily. Announce breaks, “copy” arrivals, departures, answer questions from fellow team members, overall prompt communication.
- Understands layout of hotel, different room sizes & amenities included with each room.
- Room Card understanding/usage – colors, recording behavior & health notes.
- Facility maintenance – alert manager or shift lead to add to maintenance doc.
- Inventory – alert manager or shift lead if low on stock.
- Assistance in other departments as needed following cross training in the department.
- Willingness to mentor bathers.
Qualifications:
- 1 year of Professional Grooming Experience a must
- Genuine love for dogs and comfortable working with all dog breeds and temperaments.
- Strong Communication, customer service, and teamwork skills
- Responsible and reliable
- Ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to Reach and bend while standing for a long period of time.
- Ability to handle large, active dogs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work and communicate appropriately in a team environment

Qualifications:
- Professional Grooming experience is REQUIRED
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Strong communication, customer service and teamwork skills.

- Reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift 50 lbs.
