Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional patient service and maintaining professional phone etiquette on multi-line systems.
- Schedule appointments efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification tasks for Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers.
- Manage medical records, including filing, documentation review, and maintaining accurate health information management.
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating electronic health records (EHR systems).
- Handle billing processes such as medical collection procedures and basic medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) to support accurate invoicing.
- Maintain a clean and organized front desk area while managing office management tasks like filing, data entry (10 key typing), and appointment reminders.
- Support clinic operations by coordinating with healthcare providers on scheduling and documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical billing practices.
- Proficiency in EMR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite and health information management software.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations.
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred to navigate dental terminology and office workflows smoothly.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and strong organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes, Medicare/Medicaid billing requirements, and hospital or dental clinic experience enhances your effectiveness in this role.
