Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including nutritional analysis and diagnostic evaluation to identify individual dietary needs and health risks.
- Develop and implement tailored care plans that incorporate medical nutrition therapy (MNT), tube feeding protocols, and nutrition support strategies for diverse populations including geriatrics, patients with chronic diseases, and those requiring acute or long-term care.
- Provide expert nutrition counseling and health coaching to motivate behavioral changes and support weight loss, chronic disease management, and overall wellness goals.
- Supervise and mentor junior staff or interns within the dietary department, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, speech therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans effectively.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) accurately for documentation of patient progress, care plans, and nutritional interventions.
- Stay current with advances in clinical nutrition, physiology knowledge, and dietary guidelines to enhance service quality and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition Science, or a related field from an accredited program.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from an approved certifying body.
- Proven experience working with individuals with specific dietary needs across hospital, long-term care, or clinical settings.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, medical nutrition therapy (MNT), tube feeding procedures, and dietary management of chronic diseases.
- Demonstrated proficiency in EMR/EHR systems for documentation and client communication.
- Excellent client communication skills with the ability to motivate change through motivational interviewing techniques.
- Supervising experience preferred; ability to lead a team within a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations related to dietetics practice and nutrition support services.
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics and patients requiring specialized nutritional interventions such as weight management or acute care.
