JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Health and Safety Specialist works under the supervision of the UT Health Sciences Safety Officer to implement and manage health, safety and environmental programs of the institution. Efforts have a direct impact on the health and safety of Facilities employees as well as other University employees, students and visitors that occupy areas serviced by Facilities personnel and equipment. Efforts also limit institutional liability by promoting regulatory compliance and limiting civil liability associated with student, staff, and visitor injuries.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree in one of the Sciences OR a combination of related education and related work experience, preferably in one or more of the following areas: on-the-job adherence to safety practices and procedures, environmental health/safety, emergency management, business continuity management, hazardous materials response, industrial hygiene, or a closely related field to equal four (4) years.
