The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing clinical leadership, supervision, and oversight of all assigned clinical staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, ethical, and medically necessary behavioral health services in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations, AHCA requirements, Florida Medicaid guidelines, and payer requirements.
The Clinical Supervisor consults with the CEO, Medical Director, Quality Assurance/Utilization Review Department, and other members of the leadership team as needed regarding clinical operations, utilization management, quality improvement initiatives, and patient care.
The Clinical Supervisor maintains regular communication with clinical staff, provides clinical guidance and education, monitors compliance with documentation standards, supports program development and implementation, and promotes continuous quality improvement throughout the organization.
The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the quality, timeliness, and clinical appropriateness of documentation completed by assigned staff, ensuring compliance with agency policies, Medicaid requirements, AHCA regulations, and applicable accreditation standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide clinical supervision to licensed clinicians, registered interns, and other assigned clinical staff in accordance with Florida laws and professional licensing board requirements.
- Review and approve biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, treatment plan reviews, clinical documentation, and other records requiring supervisory review or signature.
- Monitor documentation for accuracy, completeness, medical necessity, and compliance with Medicaid, Medicare, AHCA, and payer specific requirements.
- Provide clinical consultation regarding diagnosis, treatment planning, crisis intervention, risk assessment, and discharge planning.
- Ensure internal referrals are reviewed and assigned promptly to the appropriate clinical department.
- Assist with appropriate assignment and distribution of client caseloads.
- Collaborate with the Utilization Review and Quality Assurance Departments to ensure compliance with documentation and authorization requirements.
- Participate in internal audits, external audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Monitor clinician productivity, documentation timeliness, and compliance with agency standards.
- Provide education, mentoring, and ongoing professional development to clinical staff.
- Ensure appropriate coordination of care among internal departments and external providers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and case consultations.
- Represent the agency during community meetings, provider meetings, and professional networking events as assigned.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality regulations, and all agency policies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and ensure staff understand crisis response protocols.
- Assist the CEO and Medical Director with program development, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral health services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Master's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing, or a closely related behavioral health field.
Licensure
- Active, unrestricted Florida license as one of the following:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
Knowledge and Experience
- Thorough knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5-TR).
- Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral health practices.
- Knowledge of Florida Medicaid, Medicare, AHCA regulations, and managed care requirements.
- Experience supervising licensed clinicians and/or registered interns preferred.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and clinical documentation requirements.
Licenses and Certifications
- Active Florida LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT license.
- National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- Florida Medicaid Provider Number preferred or required, depending on agency needs.
- Credentialing with commercial and/or Medicaid managed care organizations preferred.
