Title: Medical Technician - Corrections
Location: Stanly County Detention Center/Albemarle NC
Some of the most skilled, most dedicated CMA/Med techs we know found their calling in a place most people overlook: inside the walls of a county detention center. The work is demanding. The patients are complicated. And the difference a compassionate, competent nurse makes here is felt in ways that are hard to put into words.
At IMS Correctional Healthcare, we've built our reputation on a simple belief — that every patient deserves to be treated with professionalism, dignity, and genuine care. We partner with county facilities across North Carolina, and we hold ourselves to a higher standard than the contract requires. If you're a CMA/Med Tech who takes that same approach to your work, you'll fit right in here.
We're hiring a full-time Baylor CMA/Med Tech to join our team at Stanly County Detention Center in Kinston — a community-rooted facility, where your presence will be felt every single shift.
What You’ll Do
Working under the supervision of a physician and senior RN, you’ll be a steady, trusted presence for patients who often have limited access to healthcare outside these walls. As a CMA/Medical Technician, your role centers on safe medication administration, supportive clinical tasks, and maintaining a therapeutic environment within the facility.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and administering prescribed medications under RN supervision
- Reconciling daily pharmacy deliveries and maintaining organized, compliant medication storage
- Documenting all medication administration accurately on the MAR
- Notifying the pharmacy of inmate transfers or releases to ensure proper medication continuity
- Supporting chronic care, sick call, and urgent care workflows by gathering vitals, assisting with patient flow, and reporting concerns to the RN
- Following established emergency response protocols and assisting the RN/physician during on‑site treatment
- Maintaining cleanliness standards and adhering to all facility security procedures
- Providing clear, professional communication with correctional staff regarding medical requirements and restrictions
- Upholding patient confidentiality, privacy laws, and the highest standards of professional conduct at all times
- Demonstrating compassion, professionalism, and ethical care in every interaction — with patients, correctional staff, and your IMS colleagues
Every task you perform contributes to safer operations, better patient outcomes, and a healthcare environment where dignity and professionalism remain at the center of care.
Education & Certifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Certified Medication Aide Course or training course for nursing assistants
Experience:
- Prior emergency or correctional/detention facility experience preferred but not required
Compensation:
- $18 - $19/hour
- Hourly wage rate to be commensurate with experience
- Health and retirement benefits provided
Stanly County isn't a stopover — it's a community with real healthcare needs and real people counting on consistent, quality care. We show up, we communicate, and we stay accountable.
If that sounds like the kind of team you want to be part of, we'd like to hear from you.
