Role Description The Throwing Instructor is a part-time, seasonal, on-site role based in Baltimore, MD. This role is responsible for coaching athletes in throwing mechanics, including assessment, instruction, and ongoing development of throwing and pitching skills. Day-to-day tasks include leading individual and small-group training sessions, demonstrating proper techniques, providing real-time feedback, and designing progressive training plans tailored to each athlete’s needs and goals. The instructor will monitor athlete performance, track progress using relevant metrics, and adjust programming to support safe and effective skill advancement under the supervision of the Director or Throwing and Director of Performance. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a safe training environment, communicating regularly with athletes and families, collaborating with other coaches and staff, and contributing to program development and special training events.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in throwing mechanics and technique instruction, with experience coaching athletes in baseball and/or softball.
- Strong ability to observe, analyze, and correct movement patterns, including use of drills and progressions to improve performance while minimizing injury risk.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback and build trust with athletes of varying ages and skill levels.
- Experience creating structured training plans, managing session time, and adapting instruction to individual learning styles and physical capabilities.
- Commitment to athlete safety and well-being, including basic knowledge of sport-specific injury prevention and readiness to follow facility safety protocols.
- Ability to work on-site in Baltimore, MD, with a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends as training demands require.
- Prior coaching or teaching experience in a sports performance setting; certifications in coaching, strength and conditioning, or kinesiology are beneficial.
- High level of professionalism, reliability, and willingness to collaborate with other coaches and staff in a performance-focused environment.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
