- Serves as the first point of contact for veteran students and guests visiting the Veteran Services office; responds to routine inquiries in person, by phone, and by email; routes non-routine and benefits-related matters to the Education Specialist
- Assists the VA School Certifying Official (SCO) with gathering, organizing, and preparing documentation required for VA educational benefits certifications and enrollment status changes prior to SCO review and submission
- Reviews enrollment records and student files for completeness and accuracy; flags discrepancies or potential compliance concerns to the Education Specialist for resolution
- Enters, updates, and maintains accurate veteran student data in appropriate databases; develops and maintains tracking systems for incoming and current veteran students
- Creates, compiles, and maintains veteran student files, enrollment records, certification documentation, and correspondence in an audit-ready state
- Prepares documentation for enrollment changes including adds, drops, and schedule adjustments for review and submission by the SCO
- Monitors and tracks veteran students' course enrollment and academic progress; communicates changes or concerns to the Education Specialist
- Assists with the planning and execution of Veteran Services programs and events, including completing required paperwork, coordinating logistics, ensuring materials are prepared prior to the event, and managing the physical setup and breakdown
- Collaborates in managing the department social media accounts; develops and publishes content that promotes programs, events, resources, and veteran student success stories in alignment with college communications standards
- Assists with production of the department newsletter; researches, writes, edits, and distributes content on a regular schedule to keep veteran students and stakeholders informed of news, events, and available resources
- Supports department networking and outreach efforts by representing Veteran Services at college events, community partner meetings, and veteran-focused activities as assigned
Answers phones and responds to emails; composes routine correspondence and performs other general clerical duties
Monitors VA email inbox and responds to routine inquiries in a timely manner; escalates benefits-related and eligibility questions to the Education Specialist
Assists with monitoring VA-funded payments to students; documents tuition payment discrepancies and routes unresolved issues to the Education Specialist for follow-up
Maintains literature display areas, informational flyers, and departmental filing systems; produces reports to support compliance and decision-making
Orders supplies and equipment for the Veteran Services office; tracks inventory and communicates needs to the appropriate staff
May serve as receptionist, forward calls, deliver messages, and respond to routine inquiries
Travels to and provides services at multiple Wake Tech campus locations on a rotating basis as assigned
