The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team. This recruitment is being used to create an eligibility list that will be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur.
The Maryland Transit Administration is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent Transportation professional working in the Transit field. The incumbent performs Assistant Managerial level of work directing and coordinating the day-to-day transportation services of a Maryland Transit Administration division. The selected employee will assist in directing the planning and development of methods to effectively utilize bus, light rail, metro, or mobility operators. The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for assigning equipment and personnel to meet all operating requirements in accordance with all established MTA practices, policies, and procedures. The incumbent directly supervises dispatchers, starters, operators, technical, professional employees, and subordinate Transportation Supervisors.
The Assistant Superintendent work is performed in an office setting and receives managerial supervision from a Superintendent Transportation or other designated officials. The incumbent is required to periodically travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MTA service area.
This position is located in Baltimore City, Maryland.
MINIMUM QAULIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a mass transit system and/or related operations that required the resolution of operational problems related to scheduled service, equipment failure, equipment maintenance, inclement weather, or other service disruptions. One (1) year of the required experience must have involved supervisory or program management responsibilities.

Notes:
1. Additional experience as defined above may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
2. Additional education at an accredited college or university may be substituted at a rate of thirty credit hours for each year of the required experience for up to four years of the required non-supervisory experience.
3. U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Experience Requirement of the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required education and experience on a year-for-year basis.
1. Employees in this classification are assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
2. Employees in this classification who are assigned to Field Operations (Bus Transportation) will be assigned duties that require a valid State of Maryland Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B with a Passenger (P) endorsement.
