POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure the environment for exercising is safe.
- Maintain a clean work environment by following the cleaning/preventative maintenance schedule.
- Verbally communicate our “Best Practices” policies to our members in the gymnasium and on the fitness floor area.
- Re-rack weights in free weight room and return dumbbells to proper location.
- Dress appropriately as instructed by the dress code.
- Motivate members by demonstrating enthusiasm for exercise.
- Be visible to the members at all times and act in a manner that is welcoming and inviting to those members who may need assistance or have questions.
- Ensure all member needs are met through personal recognition and quality service.
- Arrive on time and be prepared and organized for each shift.
- Attend all mandatory meetings as directed by supervisor.
- Assume any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Implement and follow all emergency procedures.
- Complete the Fit Desk onboarding process

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have excellent communication skills to engage members.
- Must be in ample condition to teach proper use of all exercise machines.
- Must have a keen sense of awareness to maintain a safe and friendly environment.
- Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED training through American Red Cross is required for all employees of the YMCA of Greater Michiana, this training will be offered at no cost.

Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour
