Job Summary:
The Furman University Libraries seek a person to help patrons at the Research Assistance Desk during the evening. Sunday – Wednesday, 5PM-10PM during the academic year August 2026-May 2027. Additional hours will be available during peak periods or due to the scheduled absences of other employees.
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Staff Research Assistance Desk four evenings a week (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) from 5:00pm - 10:00pm.
Cross-trains in Circulation policies and procedures to provide supervisory coverage during mid-evening break. Serves as the designated backup closer and is expected to close the Duke Library at 1:00am in the event of an unexpected absence of the Evening Circulation Supervisor.
Communicates with student assistants during shift changes
Minimum Qualifications:

Work cooperatively and tactfully with co-workers, faculty, staff, patrons, and students.
Effectively communicate policies, procedure, requests and information to colleagues, patrons, students, and faculty, etc.
