Position Overview
Must develop and maintain a positive working relationship with other WVLC staff members, families, student interns, business and industry representatives and involved community members to provide a quality early care program.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with our Kitchen Manager / Cook to create new healthy menus on a seasonal basis.
- Assist the Cook with meal preparation and service.
- Follow all food health and safety codes.
- Monitor inventory and order food and supplies as needed.
- Manage, properly store, and lock away for safety all chemicals used for culinary services.
- Maintain workstations, including all countertops, utensils, equipment, and refrigeration in a clean and sanitary condition per health and safety regulations.
- Be knowledgeable of the operation and cleaning of all equipment and tools owned by the facility.
- Clean equipment and work surfaces at the end of each shift, including sweeping floors, mopping, cleaning counters and removing kitchen trash.
- Follow all WVLC policies and procedures.
- Maintain your personal professional development plan and continuing education requirements for staff at the required level chosen by WVLC.
- Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings.
- All other duties as assigned.
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
- Ability to pass a background check
- Kansas Food Handlers Card
- CPR & 1stAid required.
- Must pass a health screening.
- Negative TB Skin Test
- Health Assessment
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and /or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently to move objects.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and up to 25 lbs. Frequently.
- Physical demands include stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, finger dexterity, feeling, leaning, near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, field of vision, naturally or with correction, close areas, and good eye hand coordination or with suitable accommodation.
- Be able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations.
