Job Overview
We are looking for a motivated and energetic full time experienced veterinary assistant to join our ever-growing, privately owned, small animal practice.
Kingdom Animal Hospital, Inc. is located approximately 6 miles north of Winchester, VA, in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
Our veterinary hospital is a well-furnished facility with advanced equipment and technologies to provide the highest standard of care.
We are equipped to provide in-house diagnostic testing, digital radiography (including dental), ultrasound, and endoscopy.Ideal candidates must be detail oriented, possess great customer service skills, multi-tasking abilities and be dependable.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures by restraining animals and preparing them for diagnostics or surgery
- Administer medications, injections, and treatments following veterinary instructions while maintaining aseptic techniques.
- Must be comfortable administering subcutaneous, intravenous, and intramuscular injections.
- Must have experience with venipuncture.
- Basic comprehension of medical math.
- Experience and basic comprehension of anesthesia monitoring preferred.
- Experience with surgical assisting preferred, but not necessary.
- Provide comprehensive animal husbandry including feeding, grooming, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status
- Support laboratory work such as sample collection, processing, and basic diagnostic testing to aid in accurate diagnosis. Experience using Sediview, Procyte, and Catalyst preffered, but not necessary.
- Manage kennel duties by cleaning, organizing supplies, and ensuring a safe environment for hospitalized animals
- Handle front desk tasks including scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries, and maintaining accurate medical records
- Practice animal restraint techniques for various species including dogs and cats to ensure safety during proceduresRequirements
- Proven experience as a veterinary assistant or technician with knowledge of veterinary terminology and clinical protocols
- Strong background in animal handling, restraint techniques, and pet care across different species
- Experience with medication administration, catheterization, and aseptic techniques in a veterinary setting
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary medicine
- Kennel experience along with familiarity in pet care routines and animal husbandry practices
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a busy clinic environment
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
Pay: $14.00 - $22.00 per hour
