Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Day Shift Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate support and care to individuals with diverse behavioral health needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other mental health conditions such as PTSD. Duties
- Assist clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being through attentive patient care and behavioral support
- Monitor and document client behaviors, collecting data to inform treatment plans and progress assessments
- Implement behavior management strategies using applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques tailored to individual needs
- Administer medications accurately following medical documentation protocols and maintain detailed medical records in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Conduct vital signs assessments and monitor physical health indicators as part of comprehensive patient care
- Support crisis intervention efforts by managing emergency situations with effective crisis management skills and de-escalation techniques
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including social workers, special education staff, and medical professionals, to coordinate intake procedures and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
Skills
- Proven experience working with children, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring behavioral health support
- Strong crisis intervention skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviors calmly and effectively
- Knowledge of working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), neurodevelopmental disorders, and addiction counseling principles
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medication administration procedures, and vital signs monitoring
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) management systems such as EMR/EHR platforms; understanding of HIPAA compliance for medical documentation and records security
- Ability to collect accurate data for behavioral analysis and support data-driven decision making
- Excellent communication skills for working collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining professional boundaries
