Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Dental Sterilization Technician to join our dynamic dental team. In this role, you must ensure the highest standards of infection control and sterilization protocols are maintained across the clinic. Responsibilities
- Prepare, sterilize, and organize dental instruments and equipment
- and other sterilization devices in accordance with infection control standards.
- Cleaning operatories and setting up operatories for all procedures
- Maintain meticulous records of sterilization cycles, instrument inventory, and medical documentation to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ensure all dental tools meet aseptic techniques and safety protocols to prevent cross-contamination.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on sterilization equipment and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Maintain office stock
- Order supplies
- Seat patients
- Take X-rays as needed
- May be asked to assist on occasion
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of infection control practices and sterilization procedures.
- X-ray Certification is required
- Experience in Dentrix
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification in infection control or sterilization techniques is preferred; ongoing training in dental assisting or related fields is required.

Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology while following infection prevention management protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records securely.
- Support infection control practices through proper dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
- Assist with chairside duties using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures.
- Operate dental equipment safely and troubleshoot minor technical issues as needed.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure seamless patient management from check-in to check-out, including managing appointment schedules with patient management software.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is preferred but not required; relevant training or certification is advantageous.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures such as X-ray taking, dental instrument processing, and oral surgery assistance.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate record keeping.
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and healthcare infection prevention and control standards.
- Ability to perform dental sterilization procedures efficiently while maintaining aseptic technique.
- Strong communication skills for effective patient interaction and teamwork within a busy clinical setting.
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant coursework in healthcare is a plus; ongoing professional development encouraged.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift equipment or supplies as needed, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
