Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes, standards, and safety guidelines
- Assist in menu planning and ingredient selection to ensure freshness and quality
- Execute food preparation tasks such as slicing, dicing, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to safety standards in production and food handling protocols
- Support food safety management practices by following proper storage, sanitation, and handling procedures
- Collaborate with team members to deliver timely food service during busy hours and special catering events
- Ensure all meals are prepared in accordance with dietary department requirements and dietary aide guidelines when applicable
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or restaurant settings with a strong foundation in kitchen operations
- Knowledge of food safety standards in production environments and food handling best practices
- Skilled in menu planning, meal preparation, and catering services
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for various ingredients
- Familiarity with the food industry’s safety standards and food safety management systems
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong teamwork, communication, and serving skills to ensure a positive dining experience
