Description:
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Shift Supervisor to oversee operations at our Paper Mill in Peoria, IL.
This role is critical in ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous production of high-quality paper. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills with the ability to foster a positive team environment. Ability to delegate tasks, resolve conflicts, and motivate team members as well as hold team members accountable and administer discipline when necessary.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations and company policies.

Responsible for following and implementing all environmental health and safety rules.

Guides and directs hourly work force in following all environmental and health and safety rules.

Coordinates, plan, and administer operational activities and functions of the paper machine with other shift supervisors, as well as maintaining safety, production and quality standards.

Create a positive onboarding experience by mentoring new hires and helping them become productive, engaged members of the team.

Ensure all new employee training and probationary period paperwork is completed accurately and in a timely manner.

Direct employees and make sure all equipment and production areas are cleaned and organized throughout the shift and before the end of each shift. Ensure all warehouse areas are clean, organized, and free of safety hazards at all times.

Assist safety coordinator in monthly safety training.

Responsible for accurate record keeping and documentation of safety incidents, work rule violations and other records pertinent to hourly employees.

Works with employees and maintenance personnel to perform root cause failure analysis [RCFA] for paper breaks and mechanical failures.

Sets Employee performance expectations and evaluates performance. Works with Employee to correct any performance deficiencies.

Plans employee work schedules to meet production needs.

Works with the Maintenance Manager to plan and execute mill maintenance shut downs.

Assists in organizing and implementing process changes or trials.

Monitor condition of paper machine wire and clothing so far as possible to schedule wire change in a timely manner based on order demand.

Remain continually aware of paper machine maintenance requirements and work closely with maintenance manager to assure continuity of operations with minimum down-time.

Assists Employees in gathering and analyzing data used in continuous improvement efforts.

Champions Employees to continually look for ways of improving processes and communicates needs with managers.

Controls costs through the efficient use of labor, materials, supplies and procedures.

Works with Employees to resolves issues or complaints; communicates employee concerns with the Mill Superintendent and Human Resources Manager.

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 including benefits (health insurance, dental, vision, short/long term disability and life insurance as well as 401K with 6% match
Requirements:
- Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED

Additional schooling such as an associate degree, or vocational training in business, management or related field preferred

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role, preferably in manufacturing, industrial facilities

Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office). Inventory management systems a plus.

Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends and overtime

Capable of standing for long periods

Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask under pressure
