The Water Operations Manager selected for this opportunity will gain key public sector experience in operation and maintenance of a municipal water system that can effectively position you to pursue and obtain key, sought-after public sector jobs. We are looking for an Operations Manager that has 5+ years of experience in water operations management to work on-site and part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) in the South Gate area.
As a Water Operations Manager, your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee the daily operations of a city’s Water Operations Division, which include water distribution, groundwater production, maintenance activities, regulatory compliance, and personnel supervision.
- Plans, and manages operations, installation and maintenance of a city’s water utility systems, including water treatment, distribution, water quality inspection services, and regulatory compliance.
- Review water project plans and specifications, and define scope of work and estimates time, labor, equipment, materials, and permits.
- Coordination with engineering staff and other outside agencies.
- Monitors expenditures and revenues to ensure consistency with adopted budget.
- Prepares, reviews and completes various reports, tests, contracts and correspondence related to the Water Division.
As a Water Operations Manager, you will have:
- High School Diploma or GED and a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Management, Water Science or a close related field, plus 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of water system equipment, water production and facilities, including 2 years of supervisory experience. Additional years of experience can be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
- Possession of a valid Grade II California State Department of Health Services Water Treatment Certificate
- Possession of a valid Grade V California State Department of Health Services Water Distribution Certificate
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship in the U.S.)
- Valid CA Driver’s License and proof of insurance
- Must be able to commute to South Gate, CA. Relocation assistance is not provided.
