Job Goal:

To assist the teachers achieve teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist Special Education students in both the general education and special education settings, as directed by the student's IEP and Teacher of Record.
- Serve as a liaison between the Teacher of Record and General Education Teacher to ensure the student’s IEP is being implemented across settings.

Work as a one-on-one assistant for a student, assisting with the student's academic and physical needs.

Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on their perceived understanding of individual students, their needs, and abilities.

Helps students master equipment or instructional materials assigned by the teacher.

Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.

Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.

Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully license teachers.

Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional competence by completing required training hours and courses.

Assist teachers/special education department as needed.
Qualifications:

Meet all requirements to be considered a Highly Qualified Para Professional, including a minimum of 2 years’ college credit/or passing score on the Praxis Para Pro Exam

Pass the required Expanded Criminal History Check and Expanded CPS Check

Salary: Starting at $13.20 per hour
