We serve customers throughout Woonsocket, Northern Rhode Island, and the surrounding Massachusetts border communities with a focus on knowledgeable service, product education, compliance, and a welcoming retail experience.
Our team helps customers confidently navigate cannabis products, including flower, pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates, edibles, tinctures, topicals, accessories, and new product formats. We are building a team of experienced cannabis professionals who understand the importance of customer trust, operational accuracy, inventory control, order fulfillment, and strict regulatory compliance.
We are especially interested in candidates with hands-on experience using Dutchie, Metrc, and cannabis retail systems, as well as candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish.
Position Summary
Reef Wellness is hiring experienced Budtenders / Cannabis Retail Associates to support day-to-day dispensary operations, assist customers with product selection, process compliant transactions, and help maintain accurate inventory and store standards. This role also includes picking, filling, verifying, and preparing customer orders, including online, pickup, and in-store orders, with accuracy and attention to compliance.
This is not just a standard retail role. The ideal candidate has meaningful cannabis industry experience, understands how regulated dispensary operations work, and can confidently support customers while following all state and company compliance requirements.
We are also actively seeking Spanish-speaking team members so we can better serve our customers and community. For designated openings, bilingual English/Spanish ability may be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and create a professional, friendly, and informative dispensary experience.
- Verify customer identification and eligibility in accordance with state regulations.
- Guide customers through cannabis products, including flower, pre-rolls, vapes, concentrates, edibles, tinctures, topicals, accessories, and new product formats.
- Explain product differences, cannabinoid profiles, terpene profiles, potency, onset times, consumption methods, and responsible use in a clear and compliant manner.
- Process transactions accurately through Dutchie POS and related dispensary systems.
- Follow all Metrc and seed-to-sale compliance procedures, including purchase limits, product tracking, inventory accuracy, and transaction reporting.
- Pick, fill, verify, and prepare customer orders, including online orders, pickup orders, and in-store orders.
- Confirm products, quantities, package labels, purchase limits, discounts, and customer information before completing orders.
- Support online order fulfillment, in-store pickup, menu accuracy, and customer flow.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current cannabis products, brands, promotions, regulations, and store policies.
- Assist with inventory counts, stocking, labeling, merchandising, and product organization.
- Handle cash, debit transactions, discounts, tips, and end-of-shift reconciliation accurately.
- Communicate customer feedback, product questions, inventory issues, order issues, and compliance concerns to management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional retail floor, sales counter, fulfillment area, and back-of-house area.
- Protect customer privacy and follow all company policies, safety procedures, and state cannabis regulations.
- Provide excellent service to both English-speaking and Spanish-speaking customers when applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Prior cannabis dispensary, cannabis retail, cultivation, processing, distribution, or cannabis operations experience required.
- Strong working knowledge of cannabis products, effects, terminology, consumption methods, and customer education.
- Experience using Dutchie POS and/or Dutchie Backoffice strongly preferred.
- Experience with Metrc or another seed-to-sale tracking system strongly preferred.
- Ability to pick, fill, verify, and prepare orders accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to follow strict compliance procedures with accuracy and consistency.
- Strong customer service, communication, and sales skills.
- Comfortable discussing cannabis products with customers of varying experience levels.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
- Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and professional.
- Comfortable using POS systems, tablets, scanners, online menus, and basic retail technology.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to [25–50 lbs, depending on store requirement].
- Must be able to pass any required background check and obtain/maintain any required state cannabis worker registration, badge, or agent card.
Strongly Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish — strongly preferred; required for designated bilingual openings.
- 1+ year of dispensary budtender or cannabis retail experience.
- 2+ years of broader cannabis industry experience.
- Hands-on experience with Dutchie POS, Dutchie Backoffice, online orders, inventory adjustments, and customer profiles.
- Hands-on experience with Metrc, inventory reconciliation, package tracking, purchase limits, and compliance workflows.
- Experience fulfilling online, pickup, and high-volume customer orders in a retail or dispensary environment.
- Experience with cash handling, drawer reconciliation, opening/closing procedures, and high-volume retail sales.
- Existing knowledge of Rhode Island cannabis regulations and compliant customer education.
- Experience helping customers choose products based on needs, preferences, tolerance, desired effects, and consumption method.

Schedule
Reef Wellness is open 9:00 AM to 12:00 midnight, 7 days a week, and we are hiring for both daytime and evening/night coverage. Candidates should be comfortable with a retail schedule that may include weekends, holidays, and later evening shifts that can run close to midnight.
