Presidio Campus | Approximately 8 hours per week over 2 days
SCHEDULE
Two days per week
HOURS
Approximately 8/week
COMPENSATION
$75 per hour
Adda Clevenger School is an independent school offering an accelerated academic curriculum and a fully integrated performing arts program. Inspired by the child-centered, experiential philosophy of John Dewey, our program encourages students to learn actively, think deeply, and make meaningful connections across disciplines.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an engaging and intellectually curious part-time Spanish teacher for our Presidio campus. The teacher will provide approximately eight hours of instruction per week over two days, working with small groups of elementary-age students at different developmental and proficiency levels.
Our goal is substantive language learning—not conversational exposure alone. The successful candidate will develop students’ proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing while building their understanding of vocabulary, grammar, culture, and the structures of language. Because movement and the arts are integral to the Adda Clevenger experience, lessons should incorporate art, music, rhythm, dramatic play, dance, and purposeful movement when developmentally appropriate.
What You Will Do
· Plan and teach a coherent, sequential Spanish program across multiple elementary grade levels.
· Create lively, participatory lessons that combine academic rigor with songs, stories, games, visual art, drama, and movement.
· Differentiate instruction for students of varying ages, readiness levels, and prior Spanish experience.
· Assess student progress and communicate clearly with school colleagues and families as appropriate.
· Maintain an organized, positive classroom with strong routines and age-appropriate expectations.
Qualifications
· High level of Spanish proficiency and strong knowledge of Spanish grammar and usage.
· Demonstrated teaching ability and effective classroom management; experience teaching elementary-age students strongly preferred.
· Ability to design engaging lessons and adapt instruction across ages and proficiency levels.
· Excellent communication, organization, collaboration, and professional judgment.
· Bachelor’s degree preferred; study in Spanish, language education, linguistics, or a related field is desirable.
· Teaching credential preferred but not required for an otherwise highly qualified candidate.
