All employees are expected to work in a harmonious and cooperative fashion with other staff to provide efficient and effective customer service: to use free time as available to assist other staff in the completion of work assignments and perform other tasks as needed; to contribute to a positive work environment through a positive, helpful, courteous demeanor towards staff, customers and the general public; and to adhere to appropriate standards of conduct regarding the use of leave, reports to work on time and in the designated fashion.
RN: The RN position is full performance professional nursing work that includes the duties of making rounds to all assigned cottages, performing resident assessments, providing nursing care and healthcare interventions as needed, monitoring of resident healthcare conditions, and documenting and giving pertinent end-of-shift report to oncoming shift. The RN administers medications, intravenous fluids, and performs treatments as ordered on assigned cottages in a safe, efficient, and therapeutic manner. This position may also relieve staff on the On-Grounds Hospital and care for resident on the Hospital unit due to acute/chronic illness, injuries, behavior problems, or the need of supervised medication adjustments. Provides nursing care according to accepted nursing standards and agency policies and procedures.
RN Senior: The RN Senior position involves performing RN duties of making rounds to all assigned cottages, performing resident assessments, providing nursing care and healthcare interventions as needed, monitoring of resident healthcare conditions, and documenting and giving pertinent end-of-shift report to oncoming shift. Provides supervision of LPNs and other ancillary nursing staff. The RN Senior also serves as a HCC (Health Care Coordinator) of an assigned cottage, responsible for oversight of the healthcare needs of all residents of the cottage and providing interventions and written reports for 30-days, 90-days, and annual IPPs for each resident of the cottage. Other related nursing duties as assigned.
Parsons State Hospital is funded in part by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is subject to requirements bestowed by Federal and State levels of government conditions of participation.
Qualifications:
RN: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the State of Kansas.
RN Sr.: One year of experience as a Registered Nurse
Staff who operates a motor vehicle must possess an unrestricted Kansas driver’s license.
Positions in this class require that at the time of appointment the selected candidate must take and pass a drug screening test approved by the Division of Personnel Services. Persons hired must also pass a law enforcement security clearance in compliance with policies of the Department of Aging and Disability Services.
