Job Summary
We are seeking a vigilant and responsible Flagger to ensure the safety and smooth flow of traffic around construction sites, roadwork zones, and civil infrastructure projects. As a Flagger, you will play a vital role in directing vehicles and pedestrians, maintaining safety protocols, and supporting construction teams in high-traffic environments. Your proactive approach and clear communication will help prevent accidents and keep everyone safe on busy job sites.
Duties
- Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic using standardized hand signals, flags, or stop/slow paddles to ensure safe passage around construction zones
- Communicate effectively with construction crews, equipment operators, and drivers to coordinate movements and prevent hazards
- Monitor work zones continuously for safety compliance, hazards, or obstructions that could pose risks to workers or the public
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations, including FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) guidelines for working near heavy vehicles and equipment
- Assist with setting up safety signage, barriers, and cones to delineate work areas clearly
- Report any incidents or unsafe conditions immediately to site supervisors for prompt resolution
- Support heavy equipment operation by maintaining clear sightlines and ensuring safe distances are kept during machinery movement
Skills
- Proven experience working on construction projects in a civil infrastructure role, with knowledge of highway maintenance and utility locating
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, front loader trucks, and Caterpillar machinery
- Mechanical knowledge related to construction equipment and tools used on-site
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks including heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations for working around commercial vehicles and heavy machinery
- Excellent communication skills for clear signaling and coordination with team members and drivers
- Construction site experience demonstrating awareness of safety protocols and hazard prevention
