TITLE: Operations Clerk EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-Time
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager
Position Summary: Operations department staff are often in direct contact with the Bank’s customers, assisting them with various transactions or issues, and introducing them to new products and services.
Operations clerks consistently help customers with online banking, debit card questions, account questions and other application related questions.
Operations requires an individual who is good with numbers and can work well and interact well with other people, both customers and other bank employees/departments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following is a list of essential functions, which may be subject to change at any time and without advance notice. Management may assign new duties, reassign existing duties, or eliminate a function.
- Provide prompt, efficient, and friendly service to customers and other bank staff. Participates in maintaining good customer relations by giving efficient service, and in developing deeper customer relationships by acquainting customers with the Bank's services.
- Prepares settlements for the various banking core applications and produces adjusting entries and processes exception items.
- Complete settlements of debit card functions, manage card portfolio, review card activity and debit card charge back adjustments. Compose timely reports and correspondence for these functions.
- Accept and process IRS tax levies and Superior Court Orders, including any required research or correspondence.
- Respond to customers by telephone or email. Process and mail required customer correspondence and transaction receipts. Perform timely follow-ups as required.
- Ability to accurately and efficiently operate equipment to record and transmit work to core processor as needed.
- Review and respond to various Bank or Regulatory inquiries and requests for information, including the research and correspondence necessary to complete the requests. Research may include the use of various media and archival methods.
- Attend meetings, classes or seminars as Bank Management may suggest.
- Understand the Bank’s check clearing policies and the funds availability schedule and can communicate this information to customers. Explains Bank Services and fees by referring to the Bank’s fee schedule/account disclosure materials.
- Cross‐training will be completed in order to assist in other work areas within the Operations Department during peak periods or as required.
- Maintain bank security at all times by complying with security that has been established. This specifically includes maintaining confidentiality of customer information at all times.
JOB STANDARDS:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including but not limited to Excel & Word.
- Exhibits ability to deal effectively and tactfully with all types of customers, non‐customers, and co‐workers.
- Knowledge of negotiability of instruments as applied to items presented for cash, deposit, or payment.
- Aptitude for figures.
- Able to adapt smoothly to changes in systems and procedures.
- Complete settlements efficiently and accurately, with minimal differences.
- Being courteous and friendly when dealing with customers & co-workers.
- Ensure the security and confidentiality of private customer information. Follow established policies and procedures in responding to inquiries and requests.
- Cross sells additional products/services based on customer profile and customer need.
- Willingly participate in bank training, including security, sales, and service training. Successful completion of required compliance related training within prescribed timelines.
- Ability to make decisions.
- Stay in compliance with all regulations and bank policies related to job duties.

Work Conditions
Operations clerks work in a typical office environment with co-workers.
Work Hours – Varies Monday through Friday. Saturdays may be required.
Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Previous experience in an office environment is required, prior banking experience is preferred.
Ability to speak and understand fluent English is required.
