Job Overview:
Michiana Christian Academy is seeking a mature Christian Kindergarten Teacher to join our team of passionate and dedicated educators, who will foster a love of learning in young students while laying a strong foundation in literacy and academic growth. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the Science of Reading and committed to using research-based instructional strategies across all content areas.
Responsibilities:
- Implement structured literacy instruction aligned with the Science of Reading, using explicit, systematic, and multisensory teaching methods to support all students in developing strong reading skills.
- Develop and implement differentiated, rigorous lesson plans that align with Indiana State Standards
- Integrate Biblical principles and Christian values into the curriculum and daily activities
- Create a positive and Christ-like classroom environment
- Use effective classroom management techniques to promote a safe and engaging learning environment
- Collaborate with our mathematics and ELA interventionists within MCA's RtI program
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Communicate regularly with parents to provide updates on student progress
- Utilize learning technology to enhance instruction and engage students
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of students with diverse learning styles and abilities
- Demonstrate the love of Christ to our student body and their families
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills
- Participate daily in staff devotion and prayer time, prior to the start of each day
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-6) or Early Childhood Education (K-3)
- Valid Indiana teaching certification/license
- 1 or more years of proven experience working with elementary school-aged children
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent classroom management skills
- Knowledge of educational technology tools and resources
- Ability to plan and organize lessons effectively
- Understanding of child development principles
- Knowledge of or experience with Science of Reading based instruction is highly preferred.
