Reporting to the VP, Marketing, the Amazon Account Manager owns the strategic direction and profitable growth of Advantus's Amazon business across all Divisions and brands, spanning both Seller Central and Vendor Central. The Amazon Account Manager is Advantus's primary point of contact with Amazon's Vendor Central Managers and Strategic Account Services (SAS) representative, and directs the work of Advantus's outside Amazon marketing agency and the Amazon Support Specialist to ensure listing, advertising, and account health execution align with Division priorities. This is a strategic, relationship-driven, problem-solving role: identifying growth opportunities, resolving business-critical issues, and ensuring Advantus is capitalizing fully on the Amazon channel.
Responsibilities
- Owns the Amazon growth strategy across all Divisions and brands, covering both Seller Central and Vendor Central; sets priorities and goals in partnership with Division Directors, the eCommerce Manager, and VP, Marketing.
- Serves as the primary relationship owner with Amazon's Vendor Central Managers — meets with them regularly, escalates and resolves systemic issues, negotiates terms and programs, and represents Advantus in business reviews.
- Serves as the primary relationship owner with Amazon's Strategic Account Services (SAS) representative for Seller Central — meets with them regularly, leverages their guidance and programs to support Seller Central growth, and escalates issues as needed.
- Directs and holds accountable Advantus's outside Amazon marketing agency across creative/A+ content, PPC advertising, SEO, and account health services — sets priorities across the brand portfolio, reviews performance against KPIs and ROI, and ensures the agency's time and spend are focused on the highest-impact brands and SKUs.
- Identifies underperforming, stagnant, or non-moving SKUs and builds a plan to move them forward — through promotions, Vendor Initiated Orders, content or creative refreshes with the agency, born-to-run initiatives, or pricing/positioning changes in partnership with the Division.
- Reviews inventory levels across the portfolio to identify potential problems (stockouts, excess, aging inventory) and ensures adequate stocking ahead of key events and promotions, partnering with Supply Chain to bring the right inventory into the pipeline.
- Owns the Amazon promotional calendar (Prime Day, deal events, coupons, Vendor Initiated Orders) — working with Divisions, the agency, and Sales Ops/Graphics on execution.
- Acts as the escalation point and problem-solver for account health issues, PO acceptance/compliance concerns, and buy box or competitive issues flagged by the Amazon Support Specialist or the agency; opens and monitors Amazon cases as needed.
- Manages and develops the Amazon Support Specialist — assigns daily execution priorities (pricing updates, listing changes, account health monitoring, replenishment/PO tasks) and reviews the quality and completion of that work.
- Analyzes sales trends, KPIs, growth/lost business, budget/spend, and cross-sell/upsell opportunities across the portfolio; builds and maintains a regular executive reporting package and delivers actionable recommendations to Division Directors and leadership.
- Evaluates new item set-up requests from Divisions and determines the appropriate Amazon program (FBA, FBM, or Vendor Central) for launch, partnering with the Amazon Support Specialist and the agency on execution.
- Monitors buy box performance and the competitive retail landscape on Amazon and other e-commerce sites.
- Stays current on Amazon policy changes, advertising products, and platform best practices, and assesses implications for the business.
