MISSION:
Inspect wax components in all stages of manufacturing to determine compliance with written work instructions and quality requirements. Identify and repair defects, send the patterns back to the proper teams for correction, and document the problems found. Improve the process knowledge and skills of wax employees by working with and providing feedback on findings, proper methods, and written procedures. Monitor equipment used in the wax process to verify compliance with written operating instructions as required. Record process data for use by engineers, manufacturing management and employees on the shop floor. Help generate solutions to process issues and to assist in the revision of process documentation.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Audit of Product:
Objective: Inspect completed wax patterns and wax assemblies throughout the wax process for visual defects and violations of work instructions.
Essential Job Functions:

Performs visual inspection of product for defects vs quality standards using tools such as (but not limited to) radius gauges, levels, lights, and mirrors.

Compares product to written work instructions to assure completeness.

Records observations in the computer database for use by engineers and manufacturing supervision as well as written feedback to give to operators.

Completes and submits a process variance notice where applicable.

Gives personal feedback to operators on defects found and applicable work instructions.

May meet with team members and staff to point out chronic problems and lead in seeking a solution.

Ensures all paperwork is completed and filed per plant requirements.

Reviews, repairs, and corrects non-conforming product when required.
2. Audit of Process:
Objective: Audit operations in the wax area to verify compliance to written work instructions as required.
Essential Job Functions:

Works with operators and observes how the process is performed, relative to the technique card and other applicable documentation.

Alerts supervision to situations that would make it impossible for operators to follow written instructions. (mechanical problems, outdated instructions, etc.) Assists in document revision.

Gives personal feedback to operators on deviations found and applicable work instructions.

May meet with team to point out chronic problems and lead in seeking a solution.

Use measurement tools as required.
3. Support department needs:
Objective: Assist with other wax functions as required.
Essential Job Functions:

Ability to assemble wax patterns and assemblies.

Ability to clean wax patterns and gating.
-
Ability to repair non-conforming wax components at any stage.
4. Safety:
Objective: Work in a safe manner. Alert other employees who place themselves in an unsafe situation.
Essential Job Functions:

Suggest changes to documentation which will ensure worker safety.

Alert supervision to unsafe situations.
5. Training:

Training is provided on the job.
Qualifications:
Required:
-
Ability to read and follow complex written instructions in English.
-
Ability to identify visual defects.
-
Ability to work independently, plan time and solve problems with a minimum amount of supervision.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
-
Ability to deescalate tense situations and foster cooperation between inspectors and assemblers.
-
Good manual dexterity and visual accuracy; ability to attend to details.
-
Prior wax experience in cleaning/pattern finishing, pattern assembly, and pattern gating.
-
Use of hand tools and measurement devices.
Preferred:
-
Working knowledge of assembly PCP’s, SOP’s, and tech card requirements.

Two years of experience as a wax assembler.
-
Prior inspection experience.
-
May require travel for training purposes.
