This is a hands-on engineering role at the heart of Senva’s manufacturing operation. As our Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will own the design, development, and ongoing support of the test fixtures and automated test systems that verify every sensor we ship. Working alongside our 20-person R&D team, you will engage early in new product development to ensure products are designed for testability, then build the production test infrastructure that brings them to life on the manufacturing floor. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will have direct influence over product quality and throughput from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Test Fixture Design & Development
- Design, build, and qualify functional test fixtures for PCBA, calibration, final assembly, and end-of-line testing across Senva’s sensor product lines.
- Develop LabVIEW-based test software to automate measurement, calibration routines, functional verification, and data logging.
- Maintain and continuously improve existing test fixtures and test programs to reflect product revisions, improve coverage, and reduce cycle time.
- Define test specifications, limit files, and pass/fail criteria in collaboration with R&D engineering.
- Ensure all test systems are documented, version-controlled, and repeatable across operators and shifts.
New Product Introduction (NPI) Support
- Engage during product design to provide DFT (Design for Testability) feedback, ensuring new products can be efficiently and reliably tested in production.
- Develop test plans and fixture concepts early in the development cycle, targeting production-ready test capability at DVT/PVT.
- Execute bring-up and validation of new test fixtures ahead of production launch; document test coverage and known limitations.
- Partner with R&D engineers on sensor characterization, calibration algorithm development, and measurement uncertainty analysis.
Manufacturing Automation
- Identify and implement automation opportunities across the manufacturing floor to improve throughput, reduce operator variability, and lower cost.
- Develop or specify automated handling, dispensing, labeling, or data collection systems as Senva’s production volume grows.
- Evaluate and introduce new test and automation technologies relevant to precision sensor manufacturing.
Production Support & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement automation opportunities across the manufacturing floor to improve throughput, reduce operator variability, and lower cost.
- Develop or specify automated handling, dispensing, labeling, or data collection systems as Senva’s production volume grows.
- Evaluate and introduce new test and automation technologies relevant to precision sensor manufacturing.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- 3+ years of experience designing and supporting manufacturing test fixtures for electronic or electromechanical products.
- Hands-on proficiency with LabVIEW for test automation, instrument control, and data acquisition — this is a core requirement, not a nice-to-have.
- Experience with bench instruments: DMMs, power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, DAQ systems (e.g., NI hardware).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
- Practical experience with mixed-signal electronics, sensor characterization, or precision measurement.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to debugging hardware and software issues.
- Comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor alongside technicians and assemblers.
Preferred
- Experience with manufacturing automation: PLC programming, motion control, pneumatics, or robotic integration.
- Familiarity with NI TestStand or similar test executive frameworks.
- Background in sensor, instrumentation, HVAC, or building automation product environments.
- Experience with calibration systems, NIST-traceable standards, and measurement uncertainty.
- LabVIEW CLD (Certified LabVIEW Developer) certification.
- Exposure to ISO 9001 manufacturing environments and test documentation requirements.
- Experience with Python, C#, or other scripting languages for test data analysis or automation tasks.
