Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production and facility equipment in a food manufacturing environment. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to work on a wide range of industrial systems without turning every breakdown into a three-act tragedy.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems involving multiple voltages, including low-voltage controls and higher-voltage production equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical issues on processing and packaging equipment.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on:
- Boilers and steam-related systems
- Air compressors and compressed air systems
- Pumps and motors
- Vacuum pumps and vacuum systems
- Ammonia refrigeration equipment and associated systems
- Food processing and packaging machinery
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, rebuilds, and improvement projects.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and equipment manuals.
- Support troubleshooting of sensors, switches, motors, drives, valves, and related components.
- Complete maintenance work orders and document repairs accurately.
- Follow all plant safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, food safety practices, and GMP standards.
- Work closely with production, sanitation, and other departments to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 3+ years in maintenance or mechanic roles
- Experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
- Strong troubleshooting ability with electrical systems across different voltages.
- Working knowledge of:
- Hydraulics
- Pneumatics
- Pumps and motors
- Air compressors
- Boilers or steam systems
- Industrial production equipment
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize repairs, and respond to urgent equipment issues.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Experience in maintaining vacuum pumps and vacuum systems.
- Experience with food processing and packaging equipment.
- Knowledge of conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, shafts, and industrial drive systems.
- Familiarity with VFDs, PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, and automation components.
- Experience in freeze-drying equipment maintenance is a strong plus.
- Welding, fabrication, or machining experience is a plus.
Work Environment
- Industrial food manufacturing facility.
- May involve work in production areas, mechanical rooms, rooftops, refrigerated areas, and utility spaces.
- Must be able to respond to equipment breakdowns and work safely around moving machinery, electrical systems, hot surfaces, and pressurized systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work in tight spaces as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry tools, parts, and equipment consistent with maintenance work.
- Ability to work at heights or on ladders when required.
Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
