Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Instructor for General Construction Trades to join our educational team in our Steel Rising Training Program. In this role, you will deliver engaging, hands-on instruction as well as classroom instruction in various construction disciplines, including framing, plumbing, electrical, project development and more. Your expertise will inspire our adult students from diverse backgrounds to develop practical skills aligned with industry standards. Duties
- Deliver comprehensive classroom instruction in general construction trades and contracting topics such as Electrical work, Plumbing, Construction math, Blueprint reading, Tool Safety, Framing, Roofing, Drywall, Estimating, Material ordering and Takeoffs.
- Help to update curriculum to ensure alignment with current industry practices and safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Provide hands-on training in technical skills instruction including mock wall, floor framing, wall framing, steel framing and roofing, electrical mock-up, plumbing mock-up, hand and power tools operation, drywall hanging, blueprint reading/takeoffs, demolition and site clean-up.
- Assess student progress through practical demonstrations and written evaluations; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Foster an inclusive learning environment by working effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Maintain detailed records of student attendance, performance, and course completion; ensure compliance with institutional policies.
Skills
- Extensive experience and knowledge of general construction trades such as Electrical work, Plumbing, Construction math, Blueprint reading, Tool Safety, Framing, Roofing, Drywall, Estimating, Material ordering and Takeoffs.
- Preferred experience with technical instruction in manufacturing or construction settings; classroom training experience.
- Ability to provide engaging courses that incorporate hands-on activities and real-world applications.
- Excellent communication skills for teaching adult learners and working with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA regulations; experience implementing safety protocols in training environments.
- Technical proficiency with computers and educational software to facilitate classroom instruction and course management.
