Position Summary
The Industrial Air Compressor Service Technician is responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing industrial air compressor systems and related equipment. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, a customer-focused mindset, and a commitment to safety and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Perform preventive maintenance on piston, rotary screw, and oil-free compressors
- Change oil, oil filters, air filters, belts, solenoids, etc
- Diagnoses, troubleshoot, and repair pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Replace pressure switches, gauges, valves, air regulators, etc
- Maintain electrical systems, controls, and sensors
- Service air treatment products and accessories… refrigerated and desiccant air dryers, aftercoolers, inline filtration, air receivers, etc
- Repair and maintain compressor pumps, vacuum pumps, motors, and related components
- Work directly with customers, vendors, and internal teams to maintain strong professional relationships
Service Vehicle & Safety Expectations
- Each Service Technician is assigned a dedicated service truck, which must be kept clean, organized, and fully inventoried
- Must always practice safe driving
- Participation in safety meetings and training is required
- Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is always mandatory
Service Technician Levels & Qualifications
Service Technicians are hired at different levels based on experience and location.
We are currently hiring for these levels:
L-1 Service Technician Trainee
- Less than 5 years of mechanical experience in a related field (diesel, heavy equipment, aircraft, HVAC, etc.)
L-2 Service Technician
- 5+ years of mechanical experience in a related field (diesel, heavy equipment, aircraft, HVAC, etc.)
L-3 Service Technician
- 3+ years as an air compressor Service Technician performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
L-3+ Master Service Technician
· 10+ years as an experienced certified air compressor Service Technician
Highly experienced air compressor Service Technicians may qualify for higher compensation.
Starting hourly compensation will vary based on candidates' overall work experience & knowledge.
Career Development & Training
Cisco Air Systems provides all training required to become a Certified Ingersoll Rand Industrial Air Compressor Service Technician.
Our Service Technician Career Path Program includes four levels:
- Certified
- Advanced
- Senior
- Master
This structured program spans approximately 10 years, with certifications and significant pay increases at each level.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must pass background check and drug screening
Working Conditions
- Shop and field environment
- Exposure to hot (above 90°F) and cold (below 32°F) temperatures
- Exposure to loud noise levels, bright or low lighting, and contaminants
- Requires working in confined spaces and awkward positions
