Position Summary:
The Procedure Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures within the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role ensures accurate processing of physician orders, verification of patient insurance coverage, and efficient scheduling that aligns with provider availability and facility resources. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and knowledgeable in insurance requirements and authorization processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process and review physician orders for surgical procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage prior to scheduling procedures
- Perform accurate and timely data entry into the scheduling system and electronic medical records
- Coordinate and schedule procedures based on provider availability, urgency, and facility capacity
- Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and internal clinical staff regarding scheduling details and requirements
- Ensure all required documentation is obtained and completed prior to scheduled procedures
- Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or discrepancies proactively
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all regulatory requirements
- Support front office or administrative tasks as needed
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a medical office, surgery center, or hospital scheduling role preferred
- Strong knowledge of insurance plans, including prior authorization requirements and payer guidelines
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and scheduling systems
- Excellent data entry skills with high attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy
