Phlebotomist — Clinical Research
Veritas Clinical Research conducts clinical trials across a broad range of therapeutic areas, partnering with sponsors, physicians, and patients to advance treatments that genuinely improve human health. Our name comes from the Latin word for truth — and that commitment to honest, rigorous, ethically grounded research shapes everything we do, including how we treat our team and our patients.
The Role
We're looking for a skilled Phlebotomist to join our clinical research team on a part-time basis. This role is centered on accurate, low-trauma blood draws for study participants. Strong phlebotomy skills are essential — this is not a role for someone still building that skill set. Over time, there's an opportunity to grow into broader Medical Assistant responsibilities with full training and support.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (20 hours/week)
Pay: $18/hour
What You'll Do
- Perform phlebotomy (blood draws) for study labs and specimen collection — this is the core of the role
- Process, label, and handle specimens according to protocol and chain-of-custody requirements
- Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, weight, height, etc.)
- Prepare patients for study visits and assist with study procedures
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in source documents and study charts
- Assist with general clinic operations: room setup, equipment maintenance, supply inventory
- Support the clinical team with patient flow and scheduling during visit days
- Follow Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and all applicable regulatory and safety guidelines
- Train toward additional Medical Assistant duties over time (EKGs/ECGs and other diagnostic procedures), with full support and instruction provided
What You'll Bring
- Strong, proven phlebotomy skills — minimum of 50 successful blood draws required
- Phlebotomy certification (or equivalent training/experience)
- Comfort working directly with patients and taking vital signs
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
- Clinical experience required — prior clinical research experience is a plus, but not required; we provide training on GCP and study-specific procedures
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a small, collaborative team environment
- Strong communication skills and a patient-first mindset
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is a plus, but not required — we're open to training a strong phlebotomist into the MA role
Why Veritas
- Be part of a research site built on integrity, transparency, and patient-centered care
- Hands-on training in clinical research procedures and protocols, with room to grow into a full Medical Assistant role
- Small, supportive team where your work directly impacts study outcomes and patient experience
- Opportunity to grow within the clinical research field
