DAP Construction Management (DAP) is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on federal construction projects, including U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), NAVFAC, and other government agency contracts. Projects are performed on active federal installations, including military bases.
The Superintendent is responsible for overall site leadership, daily coordination of subcontractors, safety enforcement, schedule adherence, and execution of work in accordance with contract documents. This position requires strong organizational skills, knowledge of federal construction requirements, and the ability to work closely with Government representatives and internal project management teams.
Field Operations & Site Management
Manage and supervise all on-site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout.
Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, equipment, and inspections.
Ensure work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and federal contract requirements.
Maintain project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager and proactively address delays.
Conduct daily site walks to monitor progress, workmanship, and productivity.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA standards, and site-specific safety plans.
Conduct daily safety briefings and toolbox talks.
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site at all times.
Immediately address safety hazards and coordinate corrective actions.
Coordinate with Government Safety Officers and Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs).
Scheduling & Coordination
Assist in developing and updating short-term (3-week look ahead) and long-term schedules.
Lead subcontractor coordination meetings.
Ensure manpower and materials are aligned with schedule requirements.
Communicate daily progress updates to the Project Manager.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily reports including labor counts, equipment usage, weather, and progress notes.
Track inspections and coordinate with QC Manager for required quality control activities.
Document field changes and coordinate with Project Manager on modifications or change orders.
Support project closeout activities including punch list completion and final inspections.
5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent on federal construction projects.
Experience with USACE, NAVFAC, DoD, or other federal agency contracts preferred.
Strong knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and scheduling.
Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 and federal safety requirements.
OSHA 30-Hour Certification – required.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and Statements of Work (SOWs).
Experience coordinating subcontractors in a multi-trade environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software (Procore, RMS 3.0, Primavera, or similar).
Experience working on active military installations.
Prior coordination experience with Government Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs).
First Aid/CPR Certification.
Ability to obtain base access and pass federal background checks.
Field-based position on active federal construction sites.
Exposure to weather conditions and active construction environments.
Requires compliance with federal installation access requirements.
