Mental Health Therapist –Part Time
Forward Motion Counseling Services, LLC is a counseling center serving adults in New Jersey. FMCS specializes in clients who have experienced trauma and those who are in LGBTQ+ community. We are guided by an interpersonal theory of healing which integrates behavioral, psychodynamic, and humanistic modalities. We are committed to improving the wellbeing of both clients and clinicians. We are currently looking for clinicians interested and skilled in working with individuals and couples.

We are looking to fill this position in September 2027
Expectations for this Role:
Part Time: 10 counseling hours minimum
- A caseload of 10 clients minimum.
- Attend monthly supervision meetings (paid)
- (Optional) Attend monthly staff meeting (paid)
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in behavioral health (social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, PsyD psychology)
- Required State Licensure: NJ Licensure
- Licensure Type: LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD
Compensation:
- W2 Employee
- Fully Licensed Clinician: 1 year 55/45 split; 2nd year 60/40 split
- No Show rate- half of no show/cancelation fee. Currently set at $50.
- Monthly Group Consultation 1.5 hours (monthly) Will reimburse at hourly rate.
- Administrative Meetings (monthly)- 1 hour a month. Reimbursed at Hourly Rate (Required for Full Time Clinicians).

Duties/Responsibilities
- Represent the business in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner
- Provide individual, couples, family, or group therapy to adults diagnosed with a variety of mental health disorders via telehealth
- Present to monthly group supervision meetings in Fairfield NJ
- Develop, recommend, and review treatment goals and plans with clients
- Develops measurable treatment objectives and attainable goals to address individual needs and monitors treatment goal progress.
- Prepare and maintain all required treatment documents (e.g. intake note, progress notes, and treatment plans) within 72 hours of therapy session.
- Accurately report time spent in sessions on treatment documents
- Implement treatment plans utilizing evidence-based interventions, as well as clinical measures
- Assist with appropriate referrals and linkage to community resources as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- With client permission, record at least one client each week to use for group supervision meetings.
- Maintain Clinical License by taking the appropriate amount of CEUs and paying for license renewal fees.
Requirements:
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with the public and to remain calm under stress.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn programs, such as (ie. Simple Practice EHR, Hushmail, Google Suite) within reasonable time.
- Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and agency information when providing support.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively in team settings.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Communication: effectively convey ideas and information to clients and write concise but detailed reports documenting client’s progress.
- Collaboration: Work with clients to determine appropriate treatment planning and measures for identifying progress
- Compassion: Demonstrate empathy and active listening skills
- Curioustiy: Interest in learning about interpersonal modalities of care and their integration with other Evidence Based Practices
- Interpersonal skills: Be able to develop and nurture good relationships with different types of people.
- Equanimity: Remain calm when working with all types of clients, including those who may be distressed or angry.
- Safety Planning: Know how to conduct safety planning and crisis interventions when necessary. Understand and implement State and Federal Laws related to mandated reporting.
Physical Requirement/Working Conditions:
- Sitting 80%; Standing/Walking: 20%
- Hearing: Must be able to comfortably communicate via telephone and video- conferencing software
- Near Vision: the ability to see details at close range as required for business software and operating office machines.
- Exceptional hand dexterity and typing skills to work with standard software programs.
