Overview
The Rollback Driver is responsible for the safe transportation, delivery, recovery, loading, and unloading of company-owned and customer equipment, tanks, pumps, and related assets utilizing a rollback truck. This position supports field operations by ensuring equipment is transported safely, efficiently, and in compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and customer requirements while providing exceptional customer service. This job may require rotating weekend shifts or on-call availability.
Duties
- Safely operate a flatbed tow truck or rollback vehicle to recover, load, and transport vehicles, including cars, trucks, and heavy machinery.
- Secure cargo following strict cargo securement protocols to prevent movement during transit.
- Conduct basic vehicle troubleshooting and minor mechanical repairs to ensure the tow truck remains in optimal condition.
- Load and unload vehicles with precision, ensuring safe vehicle loading onto the tow truck using proper techniques.
- Perform automotive diagnostics and minor mechanical repairs on vehicles requiring recovery or towing services.
- Manage vehicle recovery towing operations efficiently, adhering to safety standards and customer specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of all pickups, drop-offs, and vehicle conditions while providing excellent customer service throughout each interaction.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record; experience with commercial truck driving preferred.
- Proven experience in automotive diagnostics, automotive repair, or mechanic work for trucks or cars.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of vehicle mechanics for truck drivers and basic troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with cargo securement protocols, vehicle mechanics, and safe vehicle loading onto tow trucks.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and handle flatbed or tow truck equipment proficiently.
- Experience with conflict management to handle challenging situations professionally and calmly.
- Knowledge of car towing, vehicle recovery towing, and vehicle mechanics for trucks drivers is highly desirable.
